Heathrow airport closure 21st March 2025

We are aware that London Heathrow airport has been closed until 2359 on 21st March 2025. Heathrow expects to resume flights from midnight although disruption will likely last a few days as planes and crews relocate.

If you are due to travel please read the following.

If you are due to fly from Heathrow today:

• Customers due to fly from Heathrow today should not travel to the airport
• If Explore have booked your flights – we are currently reviewing options and will be in touch to discuss
• If you have booked your own flights - once you have new arrival flight details you should send them to us as soon as possible. If the UK office is closed then please send this information to the Explore emergency number which you can find in your Final Documentation.
• If you booked your own flights but would like to add flights to your Explore package then please contact our Sales Team on 01252 391160

If you are due to fly into Heathrow today:

• Heathrow is closed and no flights are due to land until 0001 Saturday 22nd March
• Please speak to your airline in the first instance who will be able to advise on if your flight is scheduled to operate and if so where it will be diverted to

If you are travelling Saturday 22nd March or Sunday 23rd March

• London Heathrow is due to reopen at 0001 on Saturday 22nd March  
• If you are due to travel we recommend regularly monitoring your airline’s website for any updates/instructions
• There will likely be some disruption to flights and the airport will be busy so if your flight is due to operate we recommend allowing more time for check in and security
• Underground and overground train services have also been affected so we recommend reconfirming your travel arrangements to Heathrow to ensure they are running as expected

 If you are due to travel from Monday 24th March onwards:

• We recommend you monitor your airline’s website for any updates as airlines work to relocate planes and crews
• The airport will likely be busy so you should consider allowing extra time for check in and security
